Artist Biography

Larry Blovits has been living, painting, and teaching in the Grand Rapids area since 1967. He acquired a BFA and an MFA from Wayne State University in Detroit where he majored in painting. He moved to the western part of the state with his wife and five children to begin a long and successful career at Aquinas College, where he taught drawing, anatomy, and painting.

Blovitz retired from Aquinas to pursue a career as an artist and continues to teach in the area via workshops and as a private tutor. Larry’s artwork has consistently won awards in both landscape and portraiture. His works are in museums, corporate collections, and institutions. He most enjoys creating artwork painted in a classical style reminiscent of the Great Masters of the 18th and 19th century, going as far back as the Renaissance.
