Alynn Guerra

Printmaking

Artist Biography

Alynn Guerra is an artist who’s lived and worked in Grand Rapids for over twenty years. She operates Red Hydrant Press in the historical Tanglefoot building. Her interest in printmaking began in high school, inspired by German Expressionist prints and Mexican revolution posters. Alynn’s business and following continue to expand into the community.

“I have found that inspiration doesn’t show up as a sudden flash of images and ideas with an irresistible urge to create. It comes from being present and paying attention to the seemingly boring, banal, and minuscule moments and elements that surround us that spark a curiosity, leading us to ask questions that then turn into research and discovery. This ‘seemingly mundane’ information is what inspires my work.”
